Biography

My name is Sam Nabieu Sandi, popularly known as Tombo Juice. I am a Sierra Leonean drummer and musician who started playing drums at the age of five. Music has always been more than a passion to me; it is a way of expressing myself, telling stories, connecting people, and preserving the rich musical heritage of my country. What makes my sound unique is my ability to blend traditional Sierra Leonean rhythms, particularly palm wine music and highlife, with contemporary musical styles. I believe that drumming is not just about keeping time but about understanding the soul of a song, creating the right groove, and bringing emotion and character to every performance. My approach is built around feel, dynamics, creativity, and serving the music rather than simply showing technical ability. I am deeply passionate about preserving Sierra Leone’s musical identity while exploring new sounds and creative possibilities. I believe our traditional rhythms carry the stories. Tombo juice have perform( Tour)at the Jazz at Lincoln center In Ney York city USA and also perform at the berklee college of music in Boston USA. And also Tombo Juice represented Sierra Leone at the Berklee at Gnaoua World Music Festival in Morocco, participating in an international musical exchange that celebrated cultural diversity, collaboration, and the power of music to connect people across borders.
