Biography
An American-Sierra Leonean singer songwriter living in Sierra Leone, Kate's folk orchestral sound combines layered vocal harmonies with poignant and honest lyrics about the human condition. Some of her songs blend these styles with Afrobeats, brass band, and funk influences. She co-founded SoundWave Creative, with the goal of building economic infrastructure for Sierra Leone's music sector – built on almost five years of experiences with Telem Uncommon Sounds, which she co-founded to nurture an experimental and global creative community in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Kate's music can be found on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, and Instagram, among other platforms. She was selected for the 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 Global Musicians Workshop, founded by Yo Yo Ma. She also participated in the Berklee at the Gnaoua and World Music Festival in 2024 and 2025 in Morocco. She has performed at Lincoln Center, the United Nations, and intimate house sessions globally.
